Apparatus for treating a fluid comprising a tube (27) defining a fluid flow passage (28) and a chamber (33) surrounding the fluid flow passage. An ultraviolet radiation source (40) is provided for transmitting ultraviolet radiation into the interior of the chamber (33). The ultraviolet radiation source (40) is disposed within the interior of the chamber, and means (50) are provided for conducting a gas through the chamber whereby the gas can be exposed to ultraviolet radiation within the chamber. The tube (27) may be transparent to ultraviolet radiation so that fluid flowing therealong is also exposed to ultraviolet radiation.

L'invention concerne un appareil servant à traiter un fluide, comprenant un tube (27) définissant un passage (28) pour la circulation d'un fluide, ainsi qu'une chambre (33) entourant ledit passage. Une source de rayonnements ultraviolets (40) est prévue, destinée à la transmission des rayons ultraviolets à l'intérieur de la chambre (33). Cette source (40) est placée à l'intérieur de la chambre, et des moyens (50) sont prévus pour faire circuler un gaz au travers de cette chambre, permettant ainsi que ce gaz soit exposé aux rayons ultraviolets à l'intérieur de celle-ci. Le tube (27) peut être transparent aux rayons ultraviolets de manière que le fluide circulant dans ce tube soit également exposé auxdits rayons.
