A chewing gum is provided in the present disclosure. In an embodiment, the chewing gum comprises at least one wettable filler wherein the wettable filler aids in producing an increasing release of one or more hydrophilic additives. In another embodiment, the chewing gum comprises a wettable filler having a y in a range of at least 15.0 mJ/m2 to about 65.0 mJ/m2, wherein the wettable filler aids in increasing the release of at least one hydrophilic additive. A method for increasing the release of one or more hydrophilic additives in a chewing gum composition is also provided.
