A sensitive and convenient unitized method, reagent composition and test device is presented for the determination of free halogens in aqueous test fluid samples. The reagent composition basically consists of an azine type indicator material and an effective amount of a benzidine type catalytic material, the combination of two materials preferably being impregnated into a matrix material for ease of handling and use.

L'invention concerne un procédé unifié, une composition réactive et un dispositif de test, sensibles et pratiques, de dosage d'halogènes libres dans des échantillons de fluide d'essai aqueux. La composition réactive consiste principalement en une matière indicatrice de type azine et en une dose efficace d'une matière catalytique de type benzidine, la combinaison de deux matières étant de préférence incorporée par imprégnation dans un matériau matrice pour faciliter la manipulation et l'utilisation.
