The invention relates to a process for coupling a living polymer containing living terminal (meth)acrylic units comprising the steps of (i) anionic polymerisation using an initiator system consisting of a functional initiator and a ligand in order to obtain a living polymer containing living terminal (meth)acrylics units; (ii) the reaction with an aldehyde compound of formula: R-(CHO)r in which r 2; R is an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl group containing from 2 to 24 carbon atoms, unsubstituted or substituted by one or several substituents selected from the group comprising: C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 alkoxy or di(C1-6alkyl) amino, halogen, trifluoromethyl; and (iii) recovering the final polycondensate by means known per se. The invention also relates to polycondensates thus obtained.
