The tree spacing apparatus for mulching trees of the present invention includes a housing releasably mountable onto a distal end of an articulated arm. A tree accepting aperture in the housing may be positioned so that translation of the housing into engagement with the trees drives the trees into the tree accepting aperture. A selectively rotatable shaft is rotatably mounted in the housing. It has an axis of rotation laterally across, or parallel to an axis laterally across, the tree accepting aperture. Laterally extending elongate, planar rigid blades are rigidly mounted to the shaft in a radially spaced apart array. The blades are rotatable about the axis of rotation in a rotation path around the axis of rotation. The rotation path traverses the tree accepting aperture. A drive selectively actuably rotates the array of blades. Trees entering the tree accepting aperture are engaged by the array of blades rotating in the rotation path.
