An all-terrain vehicle (ATV) includes a frame and a pair of front and rear wheels suspended from the frame. A straddle-type seat (139) has a main portion (140) and a secondary portion (145) to accommodate a driver and a passenger. The wheelbase (L) of the ATV is increased in length (compared to conventional ATVs) so as to increase stability and comfort for the driver, and/or to accommodate a passenger behind the driver. The passenger and secondary seat portion (145) are disposed in front of the rear wheel axis and moved closer to the center of the wheelbase. Moreover, the combined center or gravity of the ATV, rider, and passenger is moved closer to the center of the wheelbase to improve stability, comfort and/or safety. The driver and passenger each have sufficient space to actively position themselves without significantly interfering with each other. Tandem footrests (270) are implemented as well as grab handles (340) for the passenger.
L'invention concerne un véhicule tous terrains (VTT), qui comprend un châssis et une paire de roues avant et arrière suspendues au châssis. Un siège de type cavalier (139) présente une partie principale (140) et une partie accessoire (145) pour recevoir un conducteur et un passager. L'empattement (L) du VTT est augmenté en longueur (par comparaison avec des VTT classiques), ce qui augmente la stabilité et le confort du conducteur, et/ou permet l'installation d'un passager derrière le conducteur. Le passager et la partie de siège accessoire (145) sont placés en face de l'axe des roues arrière et déplacés au plus près du centre de l'empattement. De plus, le centre de gravité combiné du VTT, du conducteur et du passager est déplacé au plus près du centre de l'empattement afin d'améliorer la stabilité, le confort et/ou la sécurité. Le conducteur et le passager disposent chacun d'un espace suffisant pour s'installer de façon dynamique sans trop incommoder l'autre. Des repose-pieds en tandem (270) sont mis en oeuvre, ainsi que des poignées de maintien (340) pour le passager.
