An apparatus and method for correcting slow roll in a rotatable shaft is disclosed. A sensing area of a shaft is heated to a predetermined temperature while rotating the shaft in order to change electrical properties of the sensing area of the shaft. Coolant is applied to non-sensing areas of the shaft adjacent to the sensing area while the sensing area is being heated. The sensing area of the shaft is maintained at the predetermined temperature for a predetermined amount of time, and the sensing area of the shaft is quenched with coolant immediately after the predetermined amount of time in order to cool the sensing area of the shaft to room temperature.

L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé de correction de rotation lente dans un arbre rotatif. Le procédé comporte les étapes consistant à: chauffer une zone sensible de l'arbre à une température prédéterminée pendant la rotation de l'arbre afin de modifier les propriétés électriques de la zone sensible de l'arbre; appliquer un agent de refroidissement sur les zones non sensibles de l'arbre qui sont adjacentes à la zone sensible, pendant que cette dernière est chauffée; maintenir la zone sensible de l'arbre à la température prédéterminée pendant une durée prédéterminée, et refroidir rapidement la zone sensible de l'arbre à l'aide de l'agent de refroidissement, immédiatement après la durée prédéterminée afin de refroidir la zone sensible de l'arbre à la température ambiante.
