A track and field locating system, especially use for monitor the performance of athletes in track race events, is a system comprised of a portable transmitter center and multiple receivers. With the transmitter transmits timed signal, each receiver will be able to determine its location precisely and simultaneously. Transmitter employs radio and audible sound wave for signal communication. In one preferred embodiment, a locating system includes a portable transmit center at location close to the finish line and multiple receiver units that are attached to the forehead of athletes who are participating in a sprint race. The transmit center consists of a tripod stand and a transmitter unit that is mounted vertically on the tripod, which stands upright on the ground. The entire system is portable and requires no calibration.
