A method for continuously producing expanded thermoformable materials comprising the steps of: conveying a thermoformable assembly (38) by means of a conveyor (22) through a plurality of heating zones (26), whereby the thermoformable assembly (38) is heated to a temperature at which the thermoformable material (48) adhesively bonds to the first and second mold plates (40, 42): disposing the thermoformable assembly (38) between an upper press plate (44) and a lower press plate (46), and heating the thermoformable material (48) to a temperature in the range between about 50~ to 300~ C while moving the upper and lower press plates (44, 46) so as to effect an expansion of the cross-section of the thermoformable material (48); and conveying the expanded thermoformable material (48) through a cooling zone (34), wherein the expanded thermoformable material is cooled to a temperature sufficient for maintaining its structural integrity.
L'invention concerne un procédé de production en continu de matériaux thermoformables expansés, consistant : à faire passer un ensemble thermoformable (38) à l'aide d'un transporteur (22) à travers une pluralité de zones chauffantes (26), l'ensemble thermoformable (38) étant chauffé à une température permettant d'assembler par collage le matériau thermoformable (48) aux première et seconde plaques de moulage (40, 42) ; à placer l'ensemble thermoformable (38) entre une plaque de presse supérieure (44) et une plaque de presse inférieure (46) et à chauffer le matériau thermoformable (48) à une température comprise entre environ 50 ·C et 300 ·C tout en actionnant les plaques de presse supérieure et inférieure (44, 46) de façon à effectuer une expansion de la coupe transversale du matériau thermoformable (48) ; et à faire passer le matériau thermoformable expansé (48) à travers une zone de refroidissement (34), dans laquelle le matériau thermoformable expansé est refroidi à une température suffisante pour conserver son intégrité structurale.
