A herbicidal composition including isocyanate capped high molecular weight diols, triols and polyols. Glyphosate and/or a herbicidally active derivative thereof such as a glyphosate salt is combined with hydrophilic isocyanate end- capped prepolymers in order to significantly improve the efficacy of the herbicide. A combination of surfactant, glyphosate, and a hydrated polymer or hydrophilic prepolymer consisting of isocyanate capped prepolymers which are substantially comprised of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or butylene oxide units or a combination thereof demonstrates increased efficacy over conventional glyphosate formulations. The liquid herbicidal compositions of the present invention can be prepared by simply mixing the various constituents. The order of addition can be used effectively to cap free isocyanate groups in the hydrophilic prepolymer.
Cette invention concerne une composition herbicide contenant des diols, triols et polyols à coiffe d'isocyanate et d'un poids moléculaire important. Le glyphosate et/ou un de ses dérivés herbicides, tel qu'un sel de glyphosate, est mélangé à des prépolymères hydrophiles à coiffe d'extrémité d'isocyanate, ceci afin d'accroître sensiblement l'efficacité de l'herbicide. Cette invention fait appel à un composition contenant un agent tensioactif, du glyphosate, ainsi qu'un polymère hydraté ou un prépolymère hydrophile se composant de prépolymères à coiffe d'extrémité d'isocyanate, lesquels contiennent essentiellement des unités d'oxyde d'éthylène, d'oxyde de propylène ou d'oxyde de butylène, ou encore une combinaison de ces derniers. Cette composition présente une efficacité accrue par rapport aux compositions de glyphosate classiques. Les compositions liquides herbicides décrites dans la présente invention peuvent être préparées simplement en mélangeant les divers composants. L'ordre de mélange peut jouer un rôle important afin de coiffer les groupes d'isocyanate libres dans le prépolymère hydrophile.
