The present invention relates to a steering arrangement for ships propelled by water jet, comprising a steering device (6) that is pivotal about an essentially vertical shaft (5) having a first centre line (C1), at least one hydraulic cylinder (2; 3) for turning said steering device (6), which hydraulic cylinder is directly or indirectly articulately connected to the ship~s body at one of its ends (2B; 3B), a turning device (4) connected to said shaft (5), for attachment to a second end (2A; 3A) of said hydraulic cylinder at a distance from said shaft (5), a reversing device (7) arranged in connection with said steering device (6) about an essentially horizontal shaft (12), an additional hydraulic cylinder (9) arranged to act on the reversing device (7), the additional hydraulic cylinder (9) following the movement of the steering device (6), characterised in that all the hydraulic cylinders (2,3,9) are arranged within a sheltered space (1) located above the extension of said vertical shaft (5), which space (1) is accessible for maintenance from the inside of the ship, and in that the arranging of said hydraulic cylinder (9) at the turning device (4) in relation to the steering device (6) is arranged such that the relative position of the reversing device (7) is uninfluenced by the relative position of the steering device (6).

La présente invention concerne un système de direction destiné à des bateaux à propulsion par jet d'eau, comprenant: un dispositif de direction (6) qui peut pivoter autour d'un arbre essentiellement vertical (5) présentant au moins une première ligne centrale (C1); au moins un cylindre hydraulique (2; 3) qui sert à faire tourner ledit dispositif de direction (6), ledit cylindre hydraulique étant relié directement ou indirectement de façon articulée au corps du bateau à l'une de ses extrémités (2B; 3B); un dispositif de rotation (4) connecté audit arbre (5), destiné à être fixé à une seconde extrémité (2A; 3A) dudit cylindre hydraulique à une certaine distance dudit arbre (5); un dispositif d'inversion (7) disposé en connexion avec ledit dispositif de direction (6) autour d'un arbre essentiellement horizontal (12); un cylindre hydraulique (9) supplémentaire disposé pour agir sur le dispositif d'inversion (7), le cylindre hydraulique (9) supplémentaire suivant le mouvement du dispositif de direction (6). L'invention se caractérise en ce que tous les cylindres hydrauliques (2, 3, 9) sont disposés dans un espace protégé (1) qui se trouve au-dessus de l'extension dudit arbre vertical (5), ledit espace (1) étant accessible au cours de l'entretien depuis l'intérieur du bateau; et en ce que ledit cylindre hydraulique (9) est disposé au niveau du dispositif de rotation (4) par rapport au dispositif de direction (6), de sorte que la position relative du dispositif d'inversion (7) n'est pas influencée par la position relative du dispositif de direction (6).
