2084070 9118687 PCTABS00008 The invention relates to a process for disposing of packings in which (1) the packings are opened and crushed by a crushing device (5), (2) any liquid and possibly fine solid contents remaining are removed (7, 10), collected (12, 13) and taken to a suitable waste disposal, (3) any gases evolved are diluted by a continuous stream of air and carried away (19), and (4) the empty crushed packings are collected (14). The process is characterized in that the crushed packings are passed through at least one rotating screen (7, 10) and in that the crushing device (5) and/or the rotating screen (7, 10) are supplied with a hot gas or mixture of gases. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out this process.
