The present invention discloses a system and a method for selecting, accessing and retrieving directly from a physical (i.e., hard-copy) document, hypertext documents located on a user workstation or on one or a plurality of servers connected to a communication network, and for displaying the retrieved hypertext documents over said physical document. The information is accessed by the user simply by touching with a finger items (i.e., words, letters, symbols, pictures, icons, ...) that are highlighted on an electronic hypertext document displayed over the physical document. The method, for use in a user system comprises the steps of: - identifying a physical document, this physical document comprising one or a plurality of pages; - identifying a page of said physical document; - identifying and locating an electronic document associated with the identified page referring to a document hyperlink table; said document hyperlink table comprising for each page of the physical document the identification and location of an electronic document; - accessing and retrieving the electronic document associated with the identified page; - displaying the retrieved electronic document by means of an opto-touch foil placed over the identified page.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé destinés à sélectionner, à accéder et à récupérer directement à partir d'un document physique (par exemple, une copie papier), des documents hypertextes situés sur une station de travail utilisateur ou sur un ou plusieurs serveurs connectés à un réseau de communication, et à afficher les documents hypertextes récupérés sur ce document physique. L'utilisateur accède aux informations simplement en touchant du doigt les articles (par exemple, des mots, des lettres, des symboles, des images, des icônes, ) qui sont mis en évidence sur un document hypertexte électronique affiché sur le document physique. Le procédé de l'invention destiné à être utilisé dans un système utilisateur comprend les étapes consistant: à identifier un document physique, ce document physique comprenant une ou plusieurs pages, à identifier une page de ce document physique; à identifier et à localiser un document électronique associé à la page identifiée se référant à un tableau d'hyperlien de document, ce tableau comprenant pour chaque page du document physique l'identification et la localisation d'un document électronique; à accéder et à récupérer le document électronique associé à la page identifiée; et à afficher le document électronique récupéré au moyen d'un film tactile optique placé sur la plage identifiée.
