ABSTRACT A knock-down, wheelless motorcycle carrier which may have a stinger mounted in, and cantilevered from, the transporting vehicle's trailer hitch; a horizontal wheel channel mounted transversely to the stinger, for receiving the motorcycle's wheels; and a mast mounted vertically to the stinger, for helping to support the motorcycle in an upright position during transit. The mast may include a cushion for preventing the mast from abrading the motorcycle during transit. The motorcycle is held in place on the carrier by a plurality of motorcycle tie-downs. The motorcycle's wheels may be secured in place in the wheel channel by the wheel channel's sides, by the turned-up end portions of the wheel channel, and/or by wheel chocks mounted in the wheel channel. At least one hinge may be provided between the wheel channel and the stinger, to mount the wheel channel to the stinger, to lock the wheel channel in a horizontal position, and to permit at least one end of the wheel channel to be tipped down to the ground for loading or unloading the motorcycle. A releasable lock may be provided to hold the wheel channel in its tipped configuration. The positions of the wheel chocks in the wheel channel, of the mast along the stinger, and of the cushion on the mast, may be selectively adjusted in order to accommodate the various sizes and types of motorcycles the carrier is designed to carry.
