A skin whitening cosmetic is disclosed, which comprises (a) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a free fatty acid having from 18 to 22 carbon atoms and containing at least two unsaturated bonds per molecule, a salt of the fatty acid, and an ester of the fatty acid with a monohydric or dihydric alcohol, and (b) at least one silicone oil selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by formulae (I), (II), and (III): (see formula I) wherein n1 represents an integer of from 4 to 6, (see formula II) wherein n2 represents an integer of from 1 to 400, (see formula III) wherein n3 and n4 each represents an integer, the sum of n3 and n4 being from 1 to 400.
