A process for purifying meloxicam form I from a crude meloxicam, which comprises: i. contacting the crude meloxicam with an amine in a non-aqueous solvent to form a meloxicam salt; ii. isolating the meloxicam salt; iii. dissolving the meloxicam salt in an aqueous solvent to form a salt solution; and iv. adding an acid to the salt solution to precipitate free meloxicam.

L'invention concerne un procédé de purification d'une forme I de méloxicam à partir de méloxicam brut, qui comporte les étapes consistant à : 1) mettre en contact le méloxicam brut avec une amine dans un solvant non aqueux pour former un sel de méloxicam; 2) isoler le sel de méloxicam; 3) dissoudre le sel de méloxicam dans un solvant aqueux pour former une solution saline ; et 4) ajouter un acide à la solution saline pour précipiter le méloxicam libre.
