Compositions and methods for conferring tolerance to glyphosate in bacteria, plants, plant cells, tissues and seeds are provided. Compositions include a novel class of EPSPS enzymes, designated Class III, and polynucleotides encoding such enzymes, vectors comprising those polynucleotides, and host cells comprising the vectors. The novel proteins comprise at least one sequence domain selected from the Class HI domains provided herein. These sequence domains can be used to identify EPSP synthases with glyphosate resistance activity.
L'invention concerne des compositions et des procédés permettant de conférer une tolérance au glyphosate à des bactéries, des plantes, des cellules de plantes, des tissus, et des semences. Ces compositions contiennent une nouvelle classe d'enzymes EPSPS, appelée classe III, et des polynucléotides codant pour ces enzymes, des vecteurs contenant ces polynucléotides, et des cellules hôtes contenant ces vecteurs. Ces nouvelles protéines contiennent au moins un domaine de séquence choisi parmi les domaines de classe III décrits. Ces domaines de séquence peuvent être utilisés pour identifier les EPSP synthases possédant une activité de résistance au glyphosate.
