Compositions, methods and kits for inhibit-ing a cerebral neurovascular disorder or a mus-cular headache in a human patient are disclosed. Also disclosed are uses of a long-acting local anesthetic ingredient for manufacturing a medica-ment comprising the long-acting local anesthetic ingredient for use in inhibiting a cerebral neu-rovascular disorder in a human patient. The meth-ods comprise intranasally administering to the pa-tient a pharmaceutical composition comprising a local anesthetic, and preferably a long-acting lo-cal anesthetic ingredient. A composition use-ful for practicing the methods of the invention is described which comprises at least one local anesthetic in a pharmaceutically acceptable car-rier, wherein the composition is formulated for intranasal delivery. Cerebral neurovascular disor-ders include migraine and cluster headache. Mus-cular headaches include tension headaches and muscle contraction headaches. A kit comprising the composition and an intranasal applicator and a method of systemically delivering a pharmaceu-tically active agent to an animal are also included in the invention.
Cette invention concerne des compositions, procédés et kits permettant d'inhiber un trouble cérébral neurovasculaire ou une céphalée musculaire chez un patient humain; et des utilisations d'un excipient anesthésique local à action prolongée permettant de fabriquer un médicament renfermant cet excipient et destiné à inhiber un trouble cérébral neurovasculaire chez un patient humain. Ces procédés consistent à administrer au patient, par la voie intranasale, une composition pharmaceutique contenant un anesthésique local et, de préférence, un excipient anesthésique local à action prolongée. L'invention se rapporte également à une composition utilisée pour réaliser les procédés selon l'invention, cette composition renfermant au moins un anesthésique local contenu dans un excipient pharmaceutiquement acceptable. Cette composition est formulée en vue d'une administration par voie intranasale. Parmi les troubles cérébraux neurovasculaires, on trouve la migraine et la céphalée vasculaire de Horton. Parmi les céphalées musculaires, on trouve la céphalée par tension nerveuse et la céphalée par contraction musculaire. L'invention concerne enfin un kit renfermant ladite composition et un applicateur intranasal, ainsi qu'un procédé permettant d'administrer à un animal, par la voie systémique, un principe actif sur le plan pharmaceutique.
