A passive transponder (10) includes a resonator circuit (16) to receive a powering signal thereby to provide electrical energy to the transponder (10) by inductive coupling. The resonator circuit (16) is switchable between a high Q factor mode in which an induced voltage in the resonator circuit (16) decays slowly, and a low Q factor mode in which an induced voltage in the resonator circuit (16) decays more quickly. The transponder (10) includes a power storing arrangement (24) to store at least a portion of the electrical energy obtained from the powering signal.

Cette invention concerne un transpondeur passif (10) comprenant un circuit résonant (16) pour la réception d'un signal de d'alimentation et de fourniture d'énergie au transpondeur (10) par couplage inductif. Le circuit résonant peut être commuté entre un mode à facteur Q élevé dans lequel une tension induite dans le circuit résonant décroît lentement , et un mode à faible facteur Q dans lequel une tension induite dans le circuit résonant (16) décroît plus vite. Le transpondeur (10) comprend un ensemble de stockage (24) qui stocke au moins une partie de l'énergie électrique fourni par le signal d'alimentation.
