Embodiments of the present invention include methods and apparatus for compensating for variations between different ink or toner characteristics, and for variations between sensors, by characterizing the ink or toner and storing one or more static threshold level (710, 720) on printer consumable memory devices (116) during manufacture of the printer consumables (110). When installed in a printer (326), a dynamic threshold (710, 720) may be determined based on the static threshold level (610); the dynamic threshold accounting for variations between sensors and printers. The dynamic threshold (710,720) may further be stored on the printer consumable memory device (116).
Cette invention concerne, dans certains modes de réalisation, des procédés et un appareil permettant de compenser les variations entre différentes caractéristiques d'encre ou de toner ainsi que les variations entre des capteurs, lequel procédé consiste à caractériser l'encre ou le toner et à stocker un ou plusieurs niveaux seuils statiques (710, 720) sur des dispositifs mémoires (116) de consommables imprimantes pendant la fabrication desdits consommables imprimantes (110). Lorsqu'il est installé dans une imprimante (326), un seuil dynamique (710, 720) peut être déterminé sur la base du niveau seuil statique (610), ledit seuil dynamique prenant compte des variations entre des capteurs et des imprimantes. Le seuil dynamique (710, 720) peut également être stocké sur le dispositif mémoire (116) de consommables imprimantes (116).
