A switch arrangement that includes base stations connected to one or more switches, which base stations are adapted for communicating with wireless terminals. Hand-off of communicating wireless terminals -- from one base station to another base station -- is effected in the switch(s) with features that already are used in the switch to support wired terminals. In some applications the call transfer feature can be used, while in other applications conference and call transfer features are combined.
