An IR dryer (20), for use in drying a continuous paper web (3) by means of IR radiation, comprising an array of IR emitters (21) arranged, in use, in spaced relation to the paper web and a lamp protection plate (23) intermediate the IR emitters (21) and the paper web (30). At least one of the lamp protection plate (23) and the array of IR emitters (21) is curved whereby drying a paper web (3) which moves in a curved path is facilitated.

La présente invention concerne un sécheur infrarouge, destiné à être utilisé pour le séchage d'une feuille de papier continue par rayonnement infrarouge. Ledit sécheur comprend un réseau d'émetteurs de rayons infrarouges disposés, lors de l'utilisation, en relation espacée par rapport à la feuille de papier continue ainsi qu'une plaque de protection de lampe placée entre les émetteurs de rayons infrarouges et la feuille de papier continue. La plaque de protection de lampe et/ou le réseau d'émetteurs de rayons infrarouges est/sont courbe(s), le séchage d'une feuille de papier continue qui se déplace selon une trajectoire courbe étant ainsi facilité.
