Isoelectric focusing gels are cast in a rod-shaped casting mold split longitudinally into two halves (11, 12), each half having a half-circle profile (22) so that the combined halves form a completed mold that is tubular in shape with a circular cross section. Flat grooves (15, 16) are cut into the flat contacting surfaces of each of the mold halves, the grooves in direct opposition to one another to form a chamber of rectangular cross section extending the full length of the mold and open at both ends. One groove receives a flexible backing strip (17) for the gel and the other serves as the casting chamber for the gel. Once the gel is cast in this mold, isoelectric focusing can be performed as if the gel were a tube gel, and the two mold halves are then readily separated to permit removal of the gel and its transfer if desired to a second dimension separation.
Selon l'invention, des gels de focalisation isoélectrique sont coulés dans un moule de forme allongée divisé longitudinalement en deux moitiés (11, 12), chaque moitié présentant un profil de demi-cercle (22) de façon que les moitiés combinées forment un moule complet de forme tubulaire à section transversale circulaire. Des rainures plates (15, 16) sont ménagées dans les surfaces de contact plates de chacune des moitiés de moule, ces rainures étant directement opposées l'une à l'autre de façon à former une chambre de section transversale rectangulaire se prolongeant sur toute la longueur du moule et comportant une ouverture au niveau de ses deux extrémités. Une rainure reçoit une bande de support souple (17) pour le gel, l'autre rainure servant de chambre de coulée pour le gel. Une fois que le gel est coulé dans le moule, une focalisation isoélectrique peut être réalisée comme si ce gel était un gel en tube, les deux moitiés de moule étant alors séparées facilement, d'où la possibilité de retirer ledit gel et de l'acheminer, si nécessaire, vers une seconde opération de séparation dimensionnelle.
