A drive head for a down hole rotary pump driven from a well head assembly by a drive string that extends through the well to the pump is disclosed. The drive head includes a hollow rotatable drive shaft having an axial passage for accommodating a slip shaft, a housing attachable to the well head assembly, radial bearings centering the drive shaft in the housing and a thrust bearing for supporting the weight of the drive shaft and the drive string suspended therefrom. A pulley is mounted on the shaft for driving the drive shaft. The slip shaft is mounted to the top end of a polished rod which is attached to a top end of the drive string. The slip shaft and the passage in the drive shaft are preferably hexagonal so that drive torque is transmitted to the drive string without slippage of the shaft. The drive string is suspended in the well by a clamp that grips a top end of the slip shaft and rests on a top of the housing. The advantages include the elimination of damage to the polished rod and/or the down hole pump due to polished rod clamp slippage, improved transmission of drive power, and a drive train that cannot be lost down the well when a clamp slips or breaks.
Présentation d'une tête d'entraînement destinée à une pompe rotative de fond mue depuis un dispositif de tête de puits par un train de tiges allant par le puits jusqu'à la pompe. La tête d'entraînement comprend un arbre d'entraînement creux rotatif muni d'un passage pour recevoir un arbre coulissant, un boîtier pouvant être fixé au dispositif de tête de puits, des roulements radiaux pour centrer l'arbre d'entraînement dans le boîtier et un palier de butée pour supporter le poids de l'arbre d'entraînement et du train de tiges d'entraînement qui y sont suspendus. Une poulie est montée sur l'arbre pour mouvoir l'arbre d'entraînement. L'arbre coulissant est fixé à l'extrémité supérieure d'une tige polie qui est rattachée à l'extrémité supérieure du train de tiges utilisé pour l'entraînement. L'arbre coulissant et le passage dans l'arbre d'entraînement sont, de préférence, hexagonaux pour que le couple d'entraînement soit transmis au train de tiges sans que l'arbre glisse. Le train de tiges est suspendu dans le puits à l'aide d'une pince qui saisit une extrémité supérieure de l'arbre coulissant et repose sur le haut du boîtier. Parmi les avantages qu'offre la présente invention, il y a l'élimination des dommages subis par la tige polie et/ou par la pompe de fond à cause du glissement de la pince de la tige, une meilleure transmission de la puissance d'entraînement, un train d'entraînement qui ne rique pas d'être perdu dans le puits en cas de bris ou de glissement d'une pince.
