A method for establishing a new broadcast control channel (56) carrier frequency within a cell without disturbing ongoing call traffic is disclosed. A cell having a base station (34) transmitting broadcast control channel (56) data over an existing BCCH carrier frequency establishes a second BCCH carrier frequency within the cell. During a first time period BCCH data is transmitted on the existing first BCCH carrier frequency. During a second time period, both the existing and new BCCH carrier frequencies carry BCCH data to enable surrounding mobile stations (14) to detect and recognize both carriers. The transmission of the old BCCH carrier frequency is then discontinued during a third time period, such that the broadcast control channel (56) data is only transmitted on the new BCCH carrier frequency.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'établir une nouvelle fréquence porteuse d'un canal de commande de radiodiffusion (BCCH) (56) dans une cellule sans gêner le trafic des appels en cours. Une cellule ayant une station de base (34) transmettant des données BCCH (56) sur une fréquence porteuse BCCH existante établit une seconde fréquence BCCH dans la cellule. Pendant une première période, des données BCCH sont transmises sur la première fréquence porteuse existante. Pendant une seconde période, les deux fréquences porteuses BCCH, l'existante et la nouvelle, transmettent des données BCCH afin de permettre aux stations mobiles (14) environnantes de détecter et de reconnaître les deux porteuses. Pendant une troisième période, la transmission de l'ancienne fréquence porteuse BCCH est finalement discontinue de telle façon que les données BCCH (56) soient uniquement transmises sur la nouvelle fréquence porteuse BCCH.
