The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for selectively enabling and disabling transmit and receive functions of a radio (figure 1A), and more particularly to a system and method utilizing an out-of-band signal over a time division duplex channel to control transmit (11) and receive (12) functions of a radio so as to synchronize with the functions of a remote modem (figure 2, 40). The invention relates to a system and method for synchronizing the transmit and receive modes of a radio via an out of band signal. The out of band signal is preferably a control tone at a predetermined frequency and is substantially coextensive with the communication signal to be transmitted. The radio filters a multiplexed signal and detects if the control tone is present. If the control tone is not detected, the radio preferably remains in the default receive mode. If the control tone is detected, the radio operates in the transmit mode for the duration of the control signal.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour activer et désactiver sélectivement les fonctions d'émission / réception d'une radio (figure 1A) et notamment un système et un procédé utilisant un signal hors bande dans un canal duplex à répartition dans le temps pour contrôler les fonctions d'émission (11) et de réception (12) d'une radio de manière à rester synchrones avec les fonctions d'un modem distant (figure 2, 40). L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de synchronisation des modes d'émission / réception d'une radio au moyen d'un signal hors bande. Le signal hors bande est de préférence une tonalité de commande à une fréquence prédéterminée; il coïncide sensiblement avec le signal de communication à transmettre. La radio filtre un signal multiplex et détecte la présence d'une tonalité de commande. Si la tonalité de commande n'est pas détectée, la radio reste de préférence dans un mode de réception par défaut. Si la tonalité de commande est détectée, la radio fonctionne dans le mode d'émission pendant le durée du signal de commande.
