A miniature surgical robot and a method for using it are disclosed. The miniature surgical robot attaches directly with the bone of a patient. Two- dimensional X-ray images of the robot on the bone are registered with three- dimensional images of the bone. This locates the robot precisely on the bone of the patient. The robot is then directed to the pre-operative determined positions based on a pre-operative plan by the surgeon. The robot then moves to the requested surgical site and aligns a sleeve through which the surgeon can insert a surgical tool.

L'invention concerne un robot chirurgical miniature et un procédé d'utilisation de ce dernier. Le robot chirurgical miniature se fixe directement à l'os d'un patient. Des images radiographiques bidimensionnelles du robot placé sur l'os sont enregistrées avec des images tridimensionnelles de l'os, ce qui permet de localiser avec précision le robot sur l'os du patient. Le robot est ensuite orienté vers des positions préopératoires déterminées sur la base d'un plan préopératoire dressé par le chirurgien. Le robot se déplace ensuite jusqu'au champ opératoire requis et aligne un manchon au travers duquel le médecin peut insérer un outil chirurgical.
