A human monocyte chemotactic protein-4 polypeptide and DNA (RNA) encoding such polypeptide and a procedure for producing such polypeptide by recombinant techniques is disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for utilizing such polypeptide for preventing and/or treating for stem cell mobilization, myeloprotection and neuronal protection, to treat tumors, to promote wound healing, to combat parasitic infection and to regulate hematopoiesis. Also disclosed are antagonists against such polypeptides which may be employed to treat rheumatoid arthritis, lung inflammation, allergy, infectious diseases and to prevent inflammation and atherosclerosis. Diagnostic assays for identifying mutations in nucleic acid sequence encoding a polypeptide of the present invention and for detecting altered levels of the polypeptide of the present invention for detecting diseases are also disclosed.

L'invention décrit un polypeptide de protéine-4 chimiotactique de monocyte humain et un ADN (ARN) codant ce polypeptide, ainsi qu'une opération pour produire ledit polypeptide par des techniques de recombinaison. Elle décrit également des procédés pour utiliser ce polypeptide dans le but de prévenir et/ou de traiter la mobilisation des cellules souches, la myéloprotection et la protection neuronale, de traiter des tumeurs, de favoriser la cicatrisation, de combattre les parasitoses et de réguler l'hématopoïèse. Elle décrit aussi des antagonistes de ces polypeptides qui peuvent être utilisés pour traiter la polyarthrite rhumatoïde, l'inflammation pulmonaire, l'allergie, les maladies infectieuses et pour prévenir l'inflammation et l'athérosclérose. Elle décrit encore des épreuves diagnostiques visant à identifier des mutations dans une séquence d'acide nucléique codant un polypeptide de l'invention ainsi qu'à détecter une modification des taux dudit polypeptide afin de détecter des maladies.
