A brachytherapy device including a spacing member is disclosed herein. The spacing member is useful in that the instrument is effective to limit the amount of radiation that comes into contact with the sensitive tissue, and thereby protect sensitive tissue from overheating or hotspots, and/or protect against radiation exposure outside of the patient~s body which may affect healthcare provider or others who might come close to the patient. In particular, the spacing apparatus is effective to control the proximity of a brachytherapy device to the outer surface of the sensitive tissue proximate to a surgical excision site.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de brachythérapie comprenant un élément d'écartement. Ledit élément d'écartement est utile en ce sens où l'instrument est efficace pour limiter la quantité de rayons venant au contact du tissu sensible, et protège par la même le site sensible de la surchauffe ou de points chauds, et/ou protège de l'exposition aux rayonnements hors du corps du patient, risquant d'affecter le personnel soignant ou d'autres personnes amenées à être à proximité du patient. Ledit dispositif d'écartement est notamment efficace pour réguler la proximité d'un dispositif de brachythérapie de la surface extérieure du tissu sensible, proche d'un site d'ablation chirurgicale.
