ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A piece of metal or metal alloy acts as a flexible joint for types of fishing sinkers such as split-shot that clamp onto fishing line. This joint provides better attach and re-attach characteristics than does the material from which the weight- providing element of the sinker is made. The joint may be completely or partially embedded in the material that makes up weight-providing element of the sinker. In a partial embedment, the exposed part of the metal or metal alloy joint acts as an alternate line-attaching method or forms a better clamping surface or both. When part of the exposed portion forms an eyelet, the fishing line may be attached directly to the rim of this eyelet by any commonly used line to sinker securing technique or the line may be passed through the eyelet creating a free sliding sinker.
