A sensor assembly for use with a boiling water dispenser. The boiling water dispenser includes a liquid reservoir, a heater associated with the reservoir, control means responsive to a sensor for heating liquid in the reservoir, and a vent opening for steam generated in the reservoir. The sensor assembly includes a mounting portion supporting the temperature responsive body of the sensor so that the sensor is exposed to steam flowing from the vent opening. The mounting portion thermally insulates the temperature responsive body of the sensor from the liquid reservoir.
