A method for description and simulation based on organizing data into maps of invariants, the invariants being points of energy balance in a system of interest which is either in a stationary state or in a transitory disturbed state. The method includes identifying invariants in the system of interest by identifying primary sources and sinks of energy, identifying secondary energy sources and sinks coupled to the primary sources and sinks, and coupling all such sources and sinks into a network of transformations (48) organized around nodes being characterized by a locally defined principle of balanced self- organization in a system with both a conservation law and energy dissipation. Such a system becomes "organized" upon achievement. Associated with each invariant are response rates related to energy transfer rates into and out of the invariants. The invariants are mathematically similar to the critical point (74) found in equilibrium system that undergo second order phase transitions.
L'invention concerne un procédé de description et de simulation consistant à organiser des données dans des tables d'invariants, ces invariants étant des points d'équilibre d'énergie dans un système d'intérêt étant soit dans un état stationnaire, soit dans un état dérangé transitoire. Ledit procédé consiste également à identifier des invariants dans le système d'intérêt par identification de sources et de puits d'énergie primaires, identification de sources et de puits secondaires couplés aux sources et puits primaires, et couplage de toutes ces sources et ces puits dans un réseau de transformation (48) organisé autour de noeuds caractérisés par un principe localement défini d'auto-organisation équilibrée, dans un système avec une loi de conservation et dissipation de l'énergie. Un tel système est organisé dès achèvement. A chaque invariant sont associés des taux de réponse liés aux taux de transfert d'énergie dans et hors des invariants. Mathématiquement, ces invariants sont similaires au point critique (74) que l'on trouve dans des systèmes d'équilibre soumis à des transitions de phase du second ordre.
