Novel Group 4 metal complexes wherein the metal is in the +2, +3, or +4 formal oxidation state containing two ligand groups bound by .pi.-electrons, at least one of which is a cyclic or non-cyclic, non-aromatic, anionic, dienyl ligand group and having a bridged ligand structure, catalytic derivatives of such complexes; and the use thereof as catalysts for polymerizing addition polymerizable monomers are disclosed.

Cette invention concerne de nouveaux complexes métalliques du groupe 4 dans lesquels le métal se trouve dans l'état d'oxydation formel +2, +3 ou +4, lesdits complexes contenant deux groupes ligands liés par des électrons-.pi., l'un au moins de ces groupes étant un groupe ligand diényle, anionique, non aromatique, cyclique ou non cyclique et doté d'une structure pontée. L'invention se rapporte également à des dérivés catalytiques de tels complexes ainsi qu'à leur utilisation en tant que catalyseurs destinés à la polyaddition de monomères polymérisables.
