Intermediate results are passed between constituent instructions of an expanded instruction using register renaming resources and control logic. A first constituent instruction generates intermediate results and is assigned a PRN in a constituent instruction rename table, and writes intermediate results to the identified physical register. A second constituent instruction performs a look up in the constituent instruction rename table and reads the intermediate results from the physical register. Constituent instruction rename logic tracks the constituent instructions through the pipeline, and delete the constituent instruction rename table entry and returns the PRN to a free list when the second constituent instruction has read the intermediate results.

Dans la présente invention, des résultats intermédiaires sont transmis entre des instructions constitutives d'une instruction développée au moyen de ressources de renommage de registre et d'une logique de commande. Une première instruction constitutive génère des résultats intermédiaires et se voit attribuer un numéro de registre physique (PRN) dans une table de renommage d'instructions constitutives et écrit les résultats intermédiaires dans le registre physique identifié. Une deuxième instruction constitutive effectue une consultation dans la table de renommage d'instructions constitutives et lit les résultats intermédiaires dans le registre physique. La logique de renommage d'instructions constitutives recherche les instructions constitutives par le biais du pipeline et supprime l'entrée de la table de renommage d'instructions constitutives puis renvoie le PRN à une liste d'espaces-mémoires libres lorsque la deuxième instruction constitutive a lu les résultats intermédiaires.
