Therapeutic devices (10) and methods suitable for stretching the Achilles tendon. Each device (10) includes a base portion (14) and at least one wedge portion (12). The wedge portion (12) has heel and toe ends (16,18), inside-foot and outside--foot edges (20,22), and an upper surface (24). The upper surface (24) has a nonuniform elevation relative to the base portion (14) as a result of the wedge portion (12) having a fore-aft taper in the fore-aft direction and a lateral taper in the lateral direction, wherein the inside-foot edge (20) has an increasing elevation toward the toe end (18). The wedge portion (12) further has a non-constant lateral width as a result of the toe end (18) being wider than the heel end (16). The fore-aft and lateral tapers are suffi-cient so that placement of a users foot on the upper surface (24) causes supination and locking of the foot and enables stretching of the Achilles complex.
Cette invention concerne des dispositifs thérapeutiques (10) et des procédés appropriés pour étirer le tendon d'Achille. Chaque dispositif (10) comprend une base (14) et au moins une portion inclinée (12). La portion inclinée (12) comporte une extrémité pour le talon et une extrémité pour les orteils (16,18), un bord intérieur et un bord extérieur (20,22) pour le pied, et une face supérieure (24). La face supérieure (24) comporte un rehaussement irrégulier par rapport à la base (14) du fait d'un décroissement longitudinal dans le sens de la longueur et d'un décroissement latéral en direction latérale de la portion inclinée (12), le bord intérieur (20) pour le pied comportant une élévation croissante en direction des orteils (18). La portion inclinée (12) comprend par ailleurs une largeur latérale non homogène, l'extrémité prévue pour les orteils (18) étant plus large que l'extrémité prévue pour le talon (16). Le décroissement longitudinal et le décroissement latéral sont tels que le dispositif bloque en position de supination le pied de l'utilisateur posé sur la face supérieure (24) et qu'il permette l'étirement du complexe du tendon d'Achille.
