- 32 - ABSTRACT A metal-coated roll made of a fiber-reinforced resin obtained by forming an electroless plating layer alone on the surface of a pipe stock for roll which pipe stock is made of a fiber-reinforced resin or by forming a resin layer for electroless plating as an inner layer and an electroless plating layer as an outer layer on the surface of a pipe stock for roll which pipe stock is made of a fiber-reinforced resin; and a process for producing said roll which comprises carrying out the following steps in this order, (1) forming a resin layer for electroless plating on the surface of a pipe stock for roll which pipe stock is made of a fiber-reinforced resin, (2) finishing the surface of the resin layer for electroless plating, and (3) carrying out electroless plating.
