Automatic transmission fluids are described which contain a dialkyl thiadiazole and amine antioxidants, in an essentially phenolic-free and sulfurized fat- free base oil. The transmission fluids according to the present invention exhibit excellent compatibility and improved antiwear, oxidation resistance, and torque capacity properties. In a preferred embodiment a combination of friction modifiers yields enhanced results.
