ABSTRACT Hybrid composites were prepared from silane coated glass/cellulose fibers and polystyrene. The cellulose fibers were surface coated with polymer + isocyanate, silane, and grafted with a polymer. Treated cellulose/glass fiber-filled composites show excellent mechanical properties in addition to resistance even under adverse conditions, e.g. exposure to boiling water for 24 hours and to heat at +105°C for 5 days as well as at a subzero temperatures (e.g. -20°C).
