A support ring (10) for a natural human heart valve includes a first ring portion (12) having opposite terminal ends (12a, 12b) and a second ring portion (14) having opposite terminal ends (14a, 14b). An interconnector (16) extends through and interconnects the first and second ring portions (12, 14), to maintain the opposite terminal ends (12a, 12b) of the first ring portion (12) adjacent the opposite terminal ends, (14a, 14b) of the second ring portion (14), to form a segmented ring having a first and a second interface (18, 20) between the first and second ring portions ( 12, 14). The first ring portion ( 12) is of a greater length than the second ring portion ( 14). The ring portions ( 12, 14) are separable by severing the interconnector (16) at the first and second interfaces ( 18, 20), thus producing two variable size ring segments.
