ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hollow body, especially steel pipe, is formed by drawing the pipe continuously or discontinuously from a bath of the liquid metal in a sealed receptacle by driving the liquid up through a cooled ingot mold in which the tu- bular body is solidified progressively. A rotary movement about the axis of the mold is established in the stream of ascending metal by induction from an electromagnetic coil.
