The invention provides a dentifrice composition which effects antiplaque and breath freshening of an oral cavity which comprises an orally acceptable vehicle containing a combination of an abrasive; a cationic antibacterial agent; at least one proteolytic enzyme selected from the group consisting of papain, bromelain, chymotrypsin; ficin, and alcalase; and glucoamylase; wherein the abrasive is silica having an oil absorption value from 45cc/100g to less than 70cc/100g silica. The composition may be used for antiplaque and breath freshening of an oral cavity.
