A method and apparatus for defeating copy protection signals in a video signal, and also for providing copy protection signals for a video signal is disclosed. The defeat technique generally utilizes a particular pulse position shifting, modulation, etc., of AGC, normal sync and/or pseudo sync pulses to increase the separation between the pulses. Various embodiments are disclosed including selective shifting of the relative positions of either the sync/pseudo sync or AGC pulses, trimming portions of the sync/pseudo sync and/or the AGC pulses and narrowing of either the sync/pseudo sync and/or the AGC pulses, all to provide the selective position separation between the sync/pseudo sync and AGC pulses. The copy protection technique includes various embodiments for dynamically varying the sync/pseudo sync and AGC pulse separation by applying a modulation of the above position shifting, trimming and/or narrowing techniques over selected time periods to cycle from the copy protection condition to the copy protection defeat condition, back to the copy protection condition.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de rendre inopérants les signaux de protection antipiratage dans un signal vidéo et d'émettre des signaux antipiratage pour un signal vidéo. Ce procédé fait généralement intervenir, entre autres, une modification ou une modulation de position d'impulsions de synchronisation normales, de pseudo-synchronisation ou de commande automatique de gain afin d'augmenter l'intervalle séparant les impulsions. L'invention concerne également différents modes de réalisation, y compris la modification sélective des positions relatives des impulsions de synchronisation/pseudo-synchronisation et/ou de commande automatique de gain, des parties de réglage fin des impulsions de synchronisation/pseudo-synchronisation et/ou de commande automatique de gain et le resserrement des impulsions de synchronisation/pseudo-synchronisation et/ou des de commande automatique de gain. Ce procédé antipiratage comprend différents modes de réalisation pour modifier de façon dynamique l'intervalle séparant les impulsions de synchronisation/pseudo-synchronisation et/ou de commande automatique de gain, en appliquant une modulation desdits procédés de modification de position, de réglage fin et/ou de resserrement sur des périodes choisies afin de créer un cycle entre un antipiratage effectif et un antipiratage inopérant.
