In order to granulate and crush molten materials and grinding stocks, the molten mass is introduced under pressure into a mixing chamber and pressurised water, steam or water/steam mixtures are sprayed into the mixing chamber through ducts. Their rapid expansion builds up pressure that causes the solidified particles to be ejected through a diffuser, the kinetic energy of the particles being used for crushing.
