The chain polyene-group containing norbornene compound of the invention is represented by the formula [I]: Image ... [I] wherein n is an integer of 1 to 5, R1 is an alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and R2 and R3 are each independently a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbon atoms. The unsaturated ethylene copolymer of the invention is a random copolymer of 30 to 92 % by mol of (i) ethylene units, 6 to 70 % by mol of (ii) specific .alpha.-olefin units and 0.1 to 30 % by mol of (iii) units derived from the norbornene compound [I], where the molar ratio of (i)/(ii) is in the range of 40/60 to 92/8 and the unit (iii) is represented by the specific formula, and has an intrinsic viscosity [.pi.] of 0.05 to 10 dl/g. The novel unsaturated ethylene copolymer is excellent in weathering resistance, heat resistance and ozone resistance and has a high vulcanizing rate.
Le composé de norbornène contenant un groupe polyène linéaire de l'invention est représenté par la formule [I] : Image ... [I] où n est un nombre entier variant entre 1 et 5, R1 est un groupe alkyle de 1 à 5 atomes de carbone, et R2 et R3 sont, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, un atome d'hydrogène ou un groupe alkyle de 1 à 5 atomes de carbone. Le copolymère d'éthylène insaturé de l'invention est un copolymère statistique comprenant de 30 à 92 % par mole (i) d'unités éthylène, de 6 à 70 % par mole (ii) d'unités alpha-oléfine spécifiques et de 0,1 à 30 % par mole (iii) d'unités dérivées du composé norbornène [I], où le rapport molaire de (i) à (ii) se situe dans une étendue variant de 40/60 à 92/8 et l'unité (iii) est représentée par la formule spécifique, et possède un indice limite de viscosité [pi] de 0,05 à 10 dl/g. Le nouveau copolymère d'éthylène insaturé est excellent du point de vue de la résistance aux intempéries, de la résistance à la chaleur et de la résistance à l'ozone et son taux de vulcanisation est élevé.
