Phosphotungstic acid salts are used to polymerize C2-C30 .alpha.-olefins and derivatives thereof to form highly reactive products having a high content of terminal vinylidene groups and .beta.-isomers in resonance therewith. Isobutylene has been polymerized to form a Mn 300-20,000 polymer.

Sels d'acide phosphotungstique, utilisés pour polymériser des alpha-oléfines C2-C30 et des dérivés de celles-ci, et former des produits hautement réactifs à forte teneur en groupes vinylidène terminaux et des bêta-isomères en résonnance avec ces groupes. L'isobutylène a été polymérisé en un produit de masse 300-20 000.
