The invention provides self-adhesive stamps comprising: a layer (2) of stamp paper bearing a printed stamp design on its front and having perfo- rated edges (6), a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive (5) on the back of the stamp paper, and a peelable backing sheet (7) covering the adhesive, wherein the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is patterned such that there is little or no adhesive adjacent to the per- forated edges of the stamp paper. Preferably, the pressure-sensitive adhesive is a hot-melt adhesive, and preferably the adhesive is applied by printing. The invention also provides a method of making such stamps comprising the steps of: providing a sheet or web of stamp paper having lines of perforations defining stamps therein, followed by coating the back of the stamp paper with a patterned layer of pressure- sensitive adhesive and a peelable backing sheet.
L'invention concerne des timbres auto-adhésifs qui comprennent une couche (2) de papier de timbre portant au recto un dessin de timbre imprimé et dotée de bords à perforations (6), une couche d'un adhésif sensible à la pression (5) placée au dos verso de ce papier de timbre, et une couche dorsale détachable (7) recouvrant l'adhésif. La couche d'adhésif sensible à la pression est déposée en un motif tel qu'il ne se trouve que peu ou pas d'adhésif à côté des bords perforés du papier de timbre. Cet adhésif est de préférence thermofusible et appliqué par impression. L'invention concerne aussi un procédé permettant de fabriquer ces timbres et consistant à disposer d'une feuille ou d'une bande de papier de timbre dotées de lignes de perforations y définissant des timbres, puis à recouvrir le dos de ce papier de timbre avec une couche d'un motif d'adhésif sensible à la pression et avec une couche dorsale détachable.
