The invention provides a method for rendering coal as an environmentally essentially carbon dioxide-neutral fuel. Carbon dioxide produced from coal combustion is captured, purified, combined with coalbed methane or any other natural methane or natural gas source, or with hydrogen, and reacted under reaction conditions sufficient to form methanol and/or dimethyl ether, which can be used as fuel or feedstock for derived synthetic hydrocarbons and products.
La présente invention concerne un procédé destiné à transformer le charbon en carburant quasiment neutre vis-à-vis de l'environnement en ce qui concerne le dioxyde de carbone. Le dioxyde de carbone produit lors de la combustion du charbon est capturé, purifié, combiné au méthane houiller ou tout autre méthane naturel ou source de gaz naturel, ou à l'hydrogène, et mis en réaction dans des conditions réactionnelles suffisantes pour former du méthanol et/ou de l'éther diméthylique, qui peuvent être utilisés comme carburant ou charge d'alimentation pour hydrocarbures et produits dérivés de synthèse.
