Apparatus for forming a spliced yarn includes a yarn conduction member with an intermingling jet disposed forwardly thereof. The yarn conduction member has respective yarn conduction channels through which the first and second yarns are conveyed to the intermingling jet. The axis of each yarn conduction channel from the inlet to the outlet of the member is a straight line, with no bends or deviations. The yarn conduction member has a knife blade disposed adjacent to a respective yarn conduction channel. Each knife blade has a passage defining a cutting edge and a solid portion disposed between the passage and the tip of the blade. The first and second knives are insertable into and retractable from the channel to which they are adjacent. In the inserted position the passage in the knife aligns with the channel into which it is inserted, while in the retracted position the solid portion of the blade interdicts the passage to prevent movement of a yarn therethrough.

La présente invention concerne un appareil qui permet de former un fil épissé, lequel appareil comprend un organe de conduite de fil à l'avant duquel est disposé un jet d'entremêlement. L'organe de conduite de fil comprend des canaux de conduite de fil à travers lesquels le premier et le second fil sont dirigés vers le jet d'entremêlement. L'axe de chaque canal de conduite de fil, de l'entrée à la sortie, est constitué d'une ligne droite, sans courbes ni déviations. L'organe de conduite de fil comprend une lame de couteau qui est disposée adjacente à un canal de conduite de fil respectif. Chaque lame de couteau comporte un passage qui définit un bord de coupe, et une partie solide disposée entre le passage et l'extrémité de la lame. Le premier et le second couteau peuvent être insérés dans le canal auquel ils sont adjacents et rétractés de celui-ci. Dans la position insérée, le passage dans le couteau est aligné sur le canal dans lequel il est inséré, alors que dans la position rétractée, la partie solide de la lame bloque le passage afin d'empêcher le mouvement du fil dans celui-ci. Un premier et un second capuchon de maintien sont disposés adjacents à l'un des canaux de conduite de fil et proximaux à un couteau respectif. Chaque capuchon peut être rétracté du canal et inséré dans le canal qui lui est adjacent, en correspondance avec l'insertion et la rétraction respectives du couteau proximal. Lorsqu'il est inséré dans un canal, le capuchon est disposé en contact en about avec l'organe de conduite de fil, et sert à maintenir un fil s'étendant à travers le canal contre ledit organe de conduite de fil. L'organe de conduite de fil est de préférence formé d'un premier et d'un second élément d'enveloppe, dont l'un est fabriqué dans un matériau transparent.
