A golf ball tee is arranged with a pivot and a lateral member to provide a mechanical means of absorbing energy. As a golf club strikes a tee of the invention, the impact force is converted to a harmless circular motion and the energy is dissipated. Impact forces which tend to break tees of the art are received without causing damage or failure to tees of the invention. The configuration primarily includes a pin forming a pivot axis which is perpendicular to a lateral member extending away from the axis and terminating at a ball holding table and skid disk. The device may additionally be improved by attractive indicia which may be displayed atop the lateral member or on the skid disk top surface.
