A trench leaching system (10, 10') including a tank (14) containing a charge of ore (50) flooded with a liquid solvent (94) up to the level of a gutter (90). A pump (42) recirculates the liquid solvent (94) upwardly through the charge of ore (50) via a sparging array (80) for dissolving valuable minerals which are reclaimed through a series of cyclones (44 and 46) and stripped out of the pregnant solvent by a carbon column (100). The rate and pressure of the liquid solvent (94) flowing through the sparging array (80) upwardly though the charge of ore (50) are kept below the amount that would fluidise the charge of ore (50) and at an amount that produces channels (114, 122) which follow random paths that vary with time through the charge of ore (50), wherein particles of ore in the channels (114, 122) are agitated by the liquid solvent (94) and wherein particles of ore outside the channels (114, 122) are maintained substantially static and in contact with the liquid solvent (94). Such a system (10, 10') can process low grade ore (50) at low operating and capital costs.

L'invention concerne un système de lixiviation en tranchée (10, 10') comprenant un réservoir (14) contenant une charge de minerai (50) immergée dans un solvant liquide (94) jusqu'au niveau d'une rigole (90). Une pompe (42) recircule le solvant liquide (94) vers le haut à travers la charge de minerai (50) grâce à un réseau de barbotage (80) afin de dissoudre les minéraux de valeur, qui sont récupérés au travers d'une série de cyclones (44 et 46) et extraits du solvant enrichi grâce à une colonne de charbon (100). Le débit et la pression du solvant liquide (94) circulant vers le haut au travers du réseau de barbotage (80) au travers de la charge de minerai (50) sont maintenus sous la valeur de fluidisation de la charge de minerai (50) et à une valeur qui produit des canaux (114, 122) qui suivent des chemins aléatoires variant dans le temps au travers de la charge de minerai (50), les particules de minerai dans les canaux (114, 122) étant agitées par le solvant liquide (94) et les particules de minerai en dehors des canaux (114, 122) étant en grande partie maintenues statiques et en contact avec le solvant liquide (94). Un tel système (10, 10') peut traiter des minerais pauvres (50) à de faibles coûts de fonctionnement et d'immobilisation du capital.
